Environmental Commission coordinates Master Plan update, zoning alignment

NJ SPARTA — Sparta Environmental Commission coordinates Master Plan update with recent zoning changes. Chair Neil Sauerwein reported the Master Plan Subcommittee met and continues refining comprehensive-update goals, on track for September completion. Commission learned that Township Council voted 4-1 to reduce maximum building size in three zoning districts from 175,000 to 75,000 square feet, and unanimously adopted Ordinance 26-11 concerning data centers, with development standards directed to the Master Plan Committee.
Council also unanimously joined Sussex County municipalities in opposing defunding of the Sussex County School of Conservation. Commission requested status updates on tree ordinance compliance with MS4 stormwater requirements and agreed to place artificial turf environmental concerns on a future agenda.
