Planning Board Declares Warehouse Ordinance Inconsistent with Master Plan

NJ SPARTA — Sparta Planning Board deems warehouse ordinance inconsistent with Master Plan. Board Planner Lyndsay Knight presented analysis concluding that Ordinance 26-12, which would reduce maximum warehouse sizes from 175,000 to 75,000 square feet and eliminate tenant limits, fails to protect the transportation network. The Board voted 8 to 1 that the ordinance is inconsistent with Master Plan goals for traffic management and rural character preservation, with board member Joan Furman dissenting.
The Board also unanimously approved a data center prohibition ordinance and a one-year extension for the Sparta Apartments project through August 7, 2027.
