NJ SPARTA — Sparta Council introduced two zoning ordinances and voted 3-2 to seek an executive search for its manager position. Ordinance 26-11 sought to prohibit data centers throughout the township; Ordinance 26-12 sought to amend Economic Development and PDRM zones. Both items were scheduled for final hearings June 23, 2026.
Council unanimously approved a shared services agreement with Town of Newton for monthly finance officer support of $8,500 through December 31. The 3-2 vote split, with Councilman Clark, Councilman Scott, and Councilwoman Murphy supporting the manager search and Mayor Blumetti and Deputy Mayor Sylvester opposed, reflected council disagreement over contract renewal timing.
