Sparta Council adopts binding resolution amid housing disputes

NJ SPARTA — Sparta Council adopts binding resolution on affordable housing. The Township Council on February 24 approved Resolution 8-12 committing to implement affordable housing policy once litigation resolves. The binding resolution addresses fourth-round obligations of 311 prospective and 84 present-need units through June 2035 under the Amended Fair Housing Act.

Conditional settlements with Jersey Investors Growth Co. and 5 W Shore SP LLC await implementation, while disputes with Fair Share Housing Center and DDG OPS LLC continue before Superior Court. The Council also approved $9.2 million in February expenditures and authorized a $95,810 cost increase for Main Street improvements.
