Environmental Commission Plans Earth Day, Pursues Grants

NJ SPARTA — Sparta Environmental Commission advances Earth Day planning and applies for bat conservation grant. Chair Neil Sauerwein oversaw unanimous approval of the prior meeting minutes. Vice Chair Kristine Rogers reported the April 25 Earth Day event at Town Hall will feature three exhibitors including the Sparta High School Ecology Club demonstrating biodiesel fuel.

The commission is pursuing a $1,500 ANJEC grant for a bat conservation and education program, with member Barbara Koszalka proposing 20 to 40 bat boxes installed with Department of Public Works and Sussex Tech student assistance.
