NJ SPARTA — Environmental Commission confirms April 25 Earth Day celebration with 17 area organizations. Vice Chair Kristine Rogers reported that the event, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the municipal building, will feature environmental exhibitors from North Jersey, children's crafts and games, food, and music. Participating organizations include the New Jersey Highlands Coalition, Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority, North Jersey Trout Unlimited, and others, with more than 39 high school students from Key Club and National Honor Society assisting with activities.
Christine Dunbar, Planning Board liaison, reported that a recent Salt Snapshot sampling found 43.5 percent of 23 tested sites exceeded water quality standards for salt concentration, while another 43.5 percent showed rising levels.
